Healing with the Arts Week 4: What needs to be healed

Image
http://www.healingwiththearts.com/the-book/ This week's topic was finding out what needs to be healed.  I have included the notes from my reading as well as my personal experience with the guided imagery and praxis.  These are very personal but they taught me a lot about inner healing.   This week was also about figuring out what I wanted my final art/healing project to be.  I talk about that here as well. As a matter of fact, I had decided that it would have something to do with my animal spirit and my transforming what needs to be healed into something else.  I happened to step outside my art studio door and find a caterpillar and a butterfly.  Maybe it was a sign that I was headed in the right direction.

Healing with the Arts Week 2: My Healing Inner Art Angel

Image
http://www.healingwiththearts.com/the-book/ So this is my week 2 notes and culminating piece.  At first I was panicked because I wanted to have an inner artist/healer that was beautiful like my image during the meditation.  However I realized that I was overthinking it (LOL) and just started drawing and watercoloring.  So, here she is..... my inner healing art angel.

What is an AJP? UPDATED :-)

Art Journal Pockets  are created by using nine 2.5x3.5" cards (placed in a trading card sheet protector) to compose one larger art journal page. It's a fabulous, mixed-media mash up of art journaling, pocket letters & artist trading cards. You can create  Art Journal Pockets  for yourself or to trade with friends! If you would like more information and FREE intro course from TANGIE BAXTER (!) head on over to her website at  http://shoptangiebaxter.com/pages/art-journal-pockets Here is my first attempt.  Took no time at all and this will be my cover for my binder. The second page I wanted to celebrate autumn and chose several quotes to lay over the journaling page. These were both done digitally, however, I do plan on doing hybrid versions of cards soon! Here is a set in which I inserted my family pictures and text onto the AJPs. Here is another that I just finished .... I printed it in Black and White and used watercolors, paint ...

So Guess Who Won Best in Show AND Special Recognition for her Art Piece? MEEEE!!!

Healing with the Arts Week 1

Image
I am using a Moleskein journal to record notes from the book.  Here, the notes are written for the introduction and the first week. http://www.healingwiththearts.com/the-book/  I found that the introduction was so motivational and actually looked into classes to earn certification in art therapy LOL.  For the culminating art piece for week 1, I actually used the first page from September's Scrapbooking From the Inside Out Kit- Inner Child http://www.scrapbookingfromtheinsideout.com/ .  I thought it expressed EXACTLY what the prompt was about!  As for the Inner Critic, I have done so many of those art journal prompts that I did not feel the need to do another at this time.

Lifebook Week 39 with Roben-Marie Smith and using a different color palette

Image
This week's lesson was from the wonderfully talented Roben-Marie Smith http://www.robenmarie.com/alittleaboutme .  I just love her style (swoon).  The theme was "From Here to There" and she shared with us many of her techniques for creating her art journal pages.  (Thank you xoxox)  One of the journal prompts that she used was something that started with the first letter of her first name.  So, I went with "J". A few days ago, I was reading the Art Anthology blog and was drawn to their monthly challenge color palette.  It was amazing!  It reminded me of fall (my favorite season- I love fall!) and consisted of colors that I would not normally choose for myself.   http://artanthologyinc.com/blog/?p=10378 So, for this week's Lifebook 2015 art journal page http://www.willowing.org/ , I decided I would use the color palette :-) Although I do not own any Art Anthology paints (on my wish list for xmas and birthday), I used what I already had on han...

The Chronic Pain Art Project

Image
http://messyjessycreatesart.com/index.php/the-chronic-pain-art-project/ My name is Jessica Ann Lane Massingill and I deal with chronic, debilitating pain on a daily basis.  Art helps me to heal, to deal with my feelings and accept my lot.  However, I have found it extremely hard to explain, show, get out exactly what it feels like and what is wrong- especially to doctors. Therefore, on my website, I have started a project called "The Chronic Pain Art Project".  Anyone is welcome to join, especially those who deal with Chronic Pain, care givers, doctors, etc.  There are also sources on other Chronic Pain Projects. Above is the link to my website page.  I also have a private Facebook group that you are more than welcome to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/817115878404890/ Thank you for listening :-) BTW:  I would like to start doing sculpture for this project.  If you know of any mannequins, dolls, dummys, old science models of the b...
