The Inner Child Project- The Infant Self

Image
The Inner Child Project- The Infant Self The first part of the infant self can be found in my previous blog post  https://messyjessycreates.blogspot.com/2018/02/the-inner-child-project-infant-self_28.html This painting is of me as an infant.  After working through the exercises for this developmental stage of my inner child, I could paint myself as a happy infant. According to Cathryn Taylor in The Inner Child Workbook, There are several steps involved in dealing with childhood pain which are used at each level of child development AKA with each of your inner children. Identify the pain Researching your pain Regressing to the feelings of your self at that level of child inner self Objectifying your pain Grieving your inner child's pain Healing your pain and reclaiming your joy Each of these steps is accompanied by numerous exercises to help you through this journey.  If you are really interested in healing, many of our adult issues come from n...

The Inner Child Project Day 3

Image
The Inner Child Project Day 3 Chapter 1 of The Inner Child ends with a meditation where you envision a garden that symbolizes your past and the revision of the images at each stage that we will examine as we work with our inner children within.  This image will be continuously worked with throughout the healing process of the inner child.  Here is the beginning of my garden painting.

My Klimt Phase

Image
Most artists go through phases.  This month it is Gustav Klimt.  I love the patterns (which I usually avoid) and combined it with my love of fashion.  I created these pieces and will be selling them at the ArtsFest   on October 7, 2017. These three are 16x20 and are framed These Four are 9x12 and not framed

September Paint Swatch Mood Board with Art Anthology

Image
I am still in love with this color pallette!  Love the turquiose, aqua, white, and rusty colors..... says fall to me.  It also says beach trip!  In just a few more days, I am going to visit in Portland and Yachats :-)  Squee!!!!  Super Excited! Anyway, here is the paint pallette for September again that was posted on the Art Anthology blog.... http://artanthologyinc.com/blog/?p=10378 I painted the butterfly on canvas to represent my spirit animal. I have had this box sitting around my studio for ages.... I thought it was time to bring it out and  paint!  My intention is to put mini trinkets in to from my trip to Yachats beach when I return from my trip. Oh my!  Isn't this yummy?  I made an accordian fold book to draw and journal and put pictures in from my trip.  This is the cover. It is accordian fold so it will expand and I can put plenty of ephemera in it.  There is A LOT of texture so I added a layer of cl...

The Story of Miss Willie Mae

Image
http://society6.com/product/miss-willie-mae_print#1=45 I know that many people, including myself, love their pets like family members.  Other people think that it is rediculous to treat animals like humans.  To each his or her own.  There was never another person on this earth whom fought so hard for a beloved pet.  Let me tell you the story...... In 2005, my mother was working as a home health care nurse.  She would go and help people who were too old or sick or in the last stages of life.  This is something that would be hard for me to do but she was a very caring person and loved her clients.  One of her clients had a dog that just gave birth to several tiny puppies.  These people in rural Arkansas don't have much money, especially the elderly and sick ones, so many of them can't afford to get their pets spayed or neutered or take them to the vet, for that matter.  Anyway, the client kept the mother dog and her newborn pups in a d...

Lifebook 2015 Week 7 Part 2

Image
This week we got TWO bonus lessons in our Life Book 2015 group!  Yippee!!!  This one was from Violette Clark  http://www.violette.ca/   She created a little version of her own cottage on paper and added little paper notes that meant something special to her to the rooftop.  In my version, I added lots more texture and layers and a house that opens up to have a large space in which to journal.  This was a quick and fun little art journal page to brighten up your day :-)

Last Valentine's Day: The Best Ever

Image
V-Day 2014 was the best of my life.  I shared it with my sweetie ie whom I married this past New Year's Eve in Las Vegas ;-)  One of the reasons that it was the best was because of the gift that he gave to me.  I know that sounds materialistic and shallow but, really, it's not.  You see, he wrote me a poem and read it aloud to me.  In the poem he told me, for the first time, that he was madly in love with me.  I won't be sharing that poem, of course, but what I will share is the painting that I had made for his Valentine's Day gift.  It actually almost did not exist.  Thank goodness for spray fixative!  When I was finished, I left it on my workspace over night.  When I woke up the next morning, it was covered in water!  Standing water!  It was a watercolor painting!  The cat had knocked over my huge jar of paintbrush water trying to steal his favorite wash brush.  Anyway, with a little touch up here and there, it wa...

Willowing LifeBook 2013 Week 26 with Joann Loftus

Image
Well, with crappy internet and a messed up computer, here is what I came up with for my lesson this week.... First, I used one color sharpie to write down my my fears, another for my worries, and another for things that make me angry. Then, I used a layer of gesso to cover those bad boys up :-) Next, I collaged the sillouette of the strong woman with images that represented me. After that I used watercolor crayons, stencils and sprays to create the background. Last, I typed out the words and used gel medium to put the piece all together. The words that I chose were from a journaling prompt from Effy the Wild's class "Moonshine Summer". I wrote a love letter to myself and I thought that would be great to cover up the worries, doubts and anger issues I had :-) Anyway, here it is..... taaadaa!

Willowing Summer Girls Class Painting

This class was fun to do with my 7 year old step daughter.  She is learning soooooo much and loves art!  She also thinks it's neat that you can learn from people on the computer from the other side of the world :-)
