Get Messy Art Journaling Introspection Week 1

Image
www.getmessyartjournal.com This week started a new season over at Get Messy Art Journaling.  The season is about introspection and had several art and writing prompts to choose from.   First, I used Golden fluid acrylics in Payne's Grey to try the ink blot technique suggested as one of the art prompts. Next, I added a magazine image to collage in a representation of myself.  This was also a suggested art prompt. After that, I added journaling.  One of the journal prompts was about your identity.  I made a list of who I am and used Posca paint markers to fill the page with my identifying titles.  I used the quote that was suggested for this week by Aristotle.  Last, I added a border with Posca pen and collaged in the title for the beginning of the season and the page using scrapbook paper and a number 1 tag.

Permission to Play with Carolyn Dube

Image
If you like FREE then you will love Carolyn Dube's Permission to Play class!  Plus, It's FUN!!! I used a cardboard box to make this cute little art journal.  It's not completely done, but it is ready for action.  Whenever I have extra paint, I can use it on my pages.  Whenever I want to attach something like you would in a smashbook, it's ready.  I can even gesso some pages to journal on :-) https://acolorfuljourney.com/freebies/permission-to-play-mixed-media-workshop/ I liked it so much, I made several to demonstrate for the kids who come to Terra Studios how to make a cute little art journal for next to nothing.

Stampington Monthly Journal Prompts January and February

Image
https://stampington.com/assets/docs/Monthly-Journal-Prompts.pdf The Stampington website has been ever so kind to share this great pdf of monthly themes for art journaling prompts.  I chose to use an old ledger that has been sitting around the studio just waiting for the perfect opportunity to shine.  I  decorated the front with collage, and then started to work on my pages for January and February. https://stampington.com/Keep-Taking-Chances-Project?filter_name=monthly Here is the project post for January.  The prompt was "Celebrate the Power of New Beginnings".  I chose to do something similar on the first spread and then use the techniques learned on the second spread - I liked it so much :-) https://stampington.com/Go-Where-Your-Heart-Takes-You-A-Monthly-Art-Journal-Project?filter_name=monthly Here is the post for February.  The prompt was "Work with Reds, Pinks, and Whites in a New or Unusual Way".  So, that is what I did. ...

Lifebook 2016 Week 3 with Melody Ross

Image
Lifebook 2016 Week 3 with  Melody Ross "Your Sacred Box of Wisdom" http://willowinglove.blogspot.co.uk/p/life-book-2016.html "My Sacred Box of Love" This week's lesson, with the fabulous Melody Ross, was wonderful.  I love the way she encourages people to be their very best and don't let anything get you down.  Anyway, Her lesson was on creating a sacred box of wisdom.  Everyone has this that they carry around, things that they have learned and earned to make them a better person.  I, however, decided that I needed a box of love to carry around with me right now and so that is the direction I went with this lesson.

Reworking a canvas using Art Anthology paints and sprays for the first time

Image
Hello All! YouTube Link to see the demonstration :-)   https://youtu.be/1uKdB6G9buc About a year ago, I had created 4 6x12 canvases using Rigid Wrap Plaster Cloth to cover the canvas as well as to create the flowers, stems, and leaves.  I put a base coat of paint on them and set them aside because I was not happy with the direction they were going. A few days ago, my friend Robin Redd of ReddRobinStudios, who is also on the design team for Art Anthology, sent me some of her discontinued paint samples to play around with. I knew what I wanted to use them on.......  The Four Flowers http://www.artanthologyinc.com/ http://robinredd.typepad.com/reddrobinstudios/   Here are two of the flower paintings AFTER: Here are two of the flower paintings BEFORE:

http://www.donnadowney.com/ In the Mixed Media world, Donna Downey is a goddess :-) She recently had a sale on her workshops so I bought the one I have been wanting to take for a very long time- Working in a series Here is a glimpse of my work for this class.  I LOVED it and will be doing many more works in a series.  I ran out of canvases so I used what I had on hand....... tiles LOL.  And, I only did a series of 8.  My photography wasn't spot on and is a litle blurry but you can see them fairly well.
