"Healing with the Arts" This is a book that I bought on my trip to Portland at Powell's Bookstore. I started a little journal to sketch out butterflies and mix visual art from Chapter 5 with Words from Chapter 6 in the book " Healing with the Arts"

Healing with the Arts Week 4: What needs to be healed

Image
http://www.healingwiththearts.com/the-book/ This week's topic was finding out what needs to be healed.  I have included the notes from my reading as well as my personal experience with the guided imagery and praxis.  These are very personal but they taught me a lot about inner healing.   This week was also about figuring out what I wanted my final art/healing project to be.  I talk about that here as well. As a matter of fact, I had decided that it would have something to do with my animal spirit and my transforming what needs to be healed into something else.  I happened to step outside my art studio door and find a caterpillar and a butterfly.  Maybe it was a sign that I was headed in the right direction.

RESTORE: Challenge #3 Scrapbooking From The Inside Out

Image
Here is my take on the third challenge for this month's theme- RESTORE.  It is about reconnecting with my aunt Barbara who has MS and I haven't seen in a long time.  I also have neurological issues and so I feel a connection with her and am happy to say that I am planning a family vacation to go and see her this summer.  It is very important to me as she cannot go anywhere and, for now, I sometimes am able.  To my beautiful Aunt Barbara..... http://www.scrapbookingfromtheinsideout.com/buy/kits/restore-kit/

Lifebook 2014 (Introduction)

Image
So this is my second year of Lifebook 2014 with Tamara Laporte. You can find her Mixed Media Art classes at www.willowing.ning.com  She does offer tons of mini-workshops and even an awesome free workshop!  I have taken several of her workshops and LOVE each and every one of them! Anyway, I have been busy this first half of 2014 and have not had the time to post my work for this class. So, this is a catch-up post to let you know what I have been up to :-) Last year I did all of my work for this class on Strathmore 400 series Mixed Media paper in the 18x24 size. I loved this size but it is large.  Therefore, I decided to go to 11x14 for this year's Lifebook.  It is PERFECT!  I love this paper because it is wonderful with wet and dry mediums, doesn't pile or bleed, and has a nice vellum surface.  It is thick as well and you can throw anything at it.  I am using three rings and, yes, I am punching holes in my work to insert the rings to bind the book. ...
