"Healing with the Arts" This is a book that I bought on my trip to Portland at Powell's Bookstore. I started a little journal to sketch out butterflies and mix visual art from Chapter 5 with Words from Chapter 6 in the book " Healing with the Arts"

Healing with the Arts Week 2: My Healing Inner Art Angel

Image
http://www.healingwiththearts.com/the-book/ So this is my week 2 notes and culminating piece.  At first I was panicked because I wanted to have an inner artist/healer that was beautiful like my image during the meditation.  However I realized that I was overthinking it (LOL) and just started drawing and watercoloring.  So, here she is..... my inner healing art angel.

RESTORE: Art Journal Challenge #1 SFTIO Feb 2015

Image
This Month's Theme at  http://www.scrapbookingfromtheinsideout.com/buy/kits/restore-kit/  is RESTORE.  I think that everyone needs to take the time to restore themselves from time to time.  How about now?   Of course, I needed to start a new art journal as I had filled my last one completely full!  I chose a  notebook from Studio C at carolinapad.comI buy mine from Walgreens Pharmacy.  They are about $6 and have an elastic band to keep the chunky journals shut and so many thick pages that you don’t even have to glue them together or gesso them if you don’t want to do anything heavy.  They are good for scrapbooking, art mediums, writing, etc.   Here is the inside cover to my freshly started Art Journal.  I used the packaging that came with the rubons in the kit.... it was a clip board and I glued a Project Life card to it to record the monthly themes included in this journal. The first page of this month's theme for RESTOR...

Inside Out Visual Journaling November: LUCKY challenge #1

Image
https://www.facebook.com/groups/insideoutworkshops/ http://www.scrapbookingfromtheinsideout.com/ www.insideoutworkshops.com This month's theme at Inside Out Visual Journaling with Rachel Kaufman is LUCKY. Some of you know that I have had major health problems recently and I feel very lucky that, no matter how wrong things are going, they could be worse.  I have written a couple of pages for the first prompt of the month and I ended up art journaling two layouts about this prompt.

Art Therapy Journal SFTIO Kit "Thrive"

Image
Last year I subscribed to a kit club called Scrapbooking From the Inside Out ( http://www.scrapbookingfromtheinsideout.com ) and LOVED it!!! But I was trying to cut down on expenses to I had to stop my subscription for a bit.  However, a year later, I started back up. This scrapbooking/mixed media kit club is like no other.  It is actually therapeutic and has themes each month with writing/journaling prompts, music playlists, thematic quotes, a pinterest idea board, a private facebook community page and so much more! This month's theme is "THRIVE" and this so works for me right now.  I have been working making lists for things I need to work on personally in my art therapy journal.  I will be sharing my work for week 1 of this month's theme. I just took a composition notebook and glued a couple of pages together and gessoed the ones that I was going to art on and left the ones for writing alone. First, I took the writing prompts and just wrote on the paper....

Here are three layouts that I have been working on in my art therapy journal.  I also do a lot of writing on the pages in between but I will just share the actual artwork that resulted from my musings and personal rantings.

Smashbook Art Therapy Journal

So I'm in my second year of Lifebook with Tamara Laporte ( http://www.willowing.org/life-book-2014/  ) and have learned so much from Tam and all of the other artists.  They have helped me grow as an artist and as a person. This week's lesson was from Catt Zelda Geller ( www.streetlightpeople.org ) and MAN am I so excited!  I have been thinking about how to go about the whole Art Therapy Journal and this method was perfect!  I LOVE the way she puts together her smashbooks and makes them so personal. I used two of my pieces of art for the front and back cover.  I glued them to a plain composition notebook and reinforced the spine with some washi tape.  Since the art was printed on my printer at home, I sprayed them with fixative and then, after that dried, went over it with matte medium.  I then glued two of the interior pages together at a time using a glue stick.  One thing I love is texture.  Catt showed us how to crumple up the glued pa...
