Lifebook 2016 Week 2 with Ivy Newport

Image
http://willowinglove.blogspot.co.uk/p/life-book-2016.html This week in Lifebook 2016 with Ivy Newport Theme:  Patch it up and Make it Shine! In this lesson, we wrote down all of the negative things that we wanted to leave behind in 2015.  Then, we patched it up, making it shining and new, for 2016. For my page, I actually had a lot to leave behind, as 2015 was not kind to me.  Therefore, I had many layers of collage and paint and gesso before I ended up with the art journal page you see here.  I came across this magazine photo and it screamed my name.  I love the lace in her dress and repeated the pattern in the flowers you see using modeling paste.  Along with some charcoal, Art Anthology paints, and some glitter, I made my new year shine!

Reworking a canvas using Art Anthology paints and sprays for the first time

Hello All! YouTube Link to see the demonstration :-)   https://youtu.be/1uKdB6G9buc About a year ago, I had created 4 6x12 canvases using Rigid Wrap Plaster Cloth to cover the canvas as well as to create the flowers, stems, and leaves.  I put a base coat of paint on them and set them aside because I was not happy with the direction they were going. A few days ago, my friend Robin Redd of ReddRobinStudios, who is also on the design team for Art Anthology, sent me some of her discontinued paint samples to play around with. I knew what I wanted to use them on.......  The Four Flowers http://www.artanthologyinc.com/ http://robinredd.typepad.com/reddrobinstudios/   Here are two of the flower paintings AFTER: Here are two of the flower paintings BEFORE:

Book Of Days: Self-Love Edition Art Journaing with Effy Wild Weeks 1-6

Image
Having found out in therapy that I needed to give my inner child a little more attention, I signed up for Effy Wild's Book of Days:  Self-Love Edition (like, the only one I have NOT taken LOL).   www.effywild.ning.com  My usual style of art journaling is quick and messy.  However, I felt the need to take my time and really do the work on these spreads.  It really does help! Cover Page for my art journal Week 1:  Setting my intention Week 2:  My True Colors I own a print of Tamara Laporte's and it inspired me to do this spread.  I just love the colors and it seems like this girl could be me :-) Week 3:  Self Love Primer I go the information for this spread from a wonderful article https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evil-deeds/200806/essential-secrets-psychotherapy-the-inner-child Week 4:  Flower Moon Boon- A Wish upon a sunflower Week 5:  Self Care steps I own a copy of the book by Jane Davenport "Drawi...

Lifebook Catch up Week 11 with Jane Davenport

Image
Beautiful, Inside and Out This week's lesson was from Jane Davenport- Oh she's great!  I collaged the paper with bits of ephemera to represent my beautiful inside, drew the figure, and painted around the figure to leave negative space visible for her dress and hair.  I like her :-)

Lifebook 2015 Week 17

Week 17 was with Jenny Wentworth  jennyleewentworth.blogspot.co.u k  and I adore her style, very loose and beautiful.  I am still not loose enough but I loved playing around with the colors.  Her neck is too thin but, in the end, I am happy overall :-) http://willowing.ning.com/

Scrapbooking From the Inside Out RESTORE Challenge 2

Image
This month's theme is RESTORE and I love this month's theme as well as the kit!  Well, the second journal prompt is up and here is my take on it:  The Journaling explains the Layout.  I used all kit content from the spray ink, the stencil, the embellishments, and the Project Life Cards.  I had previously made the doll out of paper clay and we used acrylics to paint her up!  Just FYI...... Sharpie Permenant Marker Pens are NOT Permenant!  Boo Sharpie..... I had to repaint her face.... but, oh well.  I hope you enjoy this post as much as I did creating it!

Lifebook 2015-Week 7 Part 1

Image
This week in our Lifebook 2015 group, we had two bonus teachers!  This post is about the first, with Jill K. Berry ( www.jillberrydesign.com ) where is did a fabulous job showing us how she makes a paper doll heart community book.  She creates the same kind of paper dolls we all did in grade school and arted them up to make them represent special people to her.  She also included a door where she could journal about how special each person is in her life. As I sat and started cutting out my accordian paper dolls and thinking of who I was going to art them into, it occurred to me that they looked like pixelated people and that my family is very important to me and wouldn't it be cool to turn each one of us into Mario Bros. characters instead?  Heh? So I started with making a background.  I can't just have paper dolls floating around.  They have to be going on a quest to the castle, right?  Well, Peach has already been saved so that means the family ...

Willowing LifeBook 2013 Week 26 with Joann Loftus

Image
Well, with crappy internet and a messed up computer, here is what I came up with for my lesson this week.... First, I used one color sharpie to write down my my fears, another for my worries, and another for things that make me angry. Then, I used a layer of gesso to cover those bad boys up :-) Next, I collaged the sillouette of the strong woman with images that represented me. After that I used watercolor crayons, stencils and sprays to create the background. Last, I typed out the words and used gel medium to put the piece all together. The words that I chose were from a journaling prompt from Effy the Wild's class "Moonshine Summer". I wrote a love letter to myself and I thought that would be great to cover up the worries, doubts and anger issues I had :-) Anyway, here it is..... taaadaa!
